Health & Safety: Health Services staff is really good, but the hours are inconvenient. Campus Safety is okay, not a big deal.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I would say Albion is a pretty safe place. Yes, there are the occasional situations, but they are always taken care of by campus safety. Campus safety is also willing to drive you anywhere around campus from dusk to dawn.

Health & Safety: Mostly Safe – Albion is a small campus, and the campus security is always around. They respond to calls if you need help, and you often see them patrolling campus. Student health services is also very helpful. The town of Albion is where you have to be more careful. Some parts of town and some neighborhoods are bad. There have been incidents when towns people get into school buildings and steal. Always walk with someone when it is dark.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Shady Town – There are some shady things that go on in the town of Albion. Every now and then the shadiness of the town will cross paths with the college but not very often. There are blue box phones everywhere and Campus Safety is very present.

Niche User

Health & Safety: I feel pretty safe on Albion's campus, except late at night when I'm walking to my dorm from the library, the computer lab, or student union. While the Campus Safety escorts are an option, I don't utilize them much because it's faster just to walk the two blocks. I wish there were more emergency phones and better lighting on some of the pathways.

With Campus Safety officers constantly roaming Albion's well-lit campus, it is rare that a student feels unsafe. There have been a few incidents of violence and crime in the past, but as long as you care about and are aware of your safety, you shouldn't have a problem. Campus Safety officers are more than happy to accompany students home at any time when they may feel unsafe. It is also a good idea to travel in groups, whether it be from a frat party or a late-night study session. You just need to be careful.

There have been some complaints in the past few years about women's health issues and the sexual assault policy on campus. Health Services is generally good about women's health and offers birth control and gynecological services, but they do not offer any form of emergency contraception on campus. Albion's sexual assault policy is "no tolerance," and while some students feel punishments should be harsher for offenders, the College does make an effort to aid sexual assault victims. The Anna Howard Shaw Women's Center offers free counseling and a free sexual assault services hotline for all students in need.
