Majors: There is no formal application process to get into a major at Albion College with the exception of the institutes. You are free to change your mind and flip flop a little before you decide on a track. For instance, I did not establish a major until my junior year and just in that time until now, I have decided on a minor and a concentration as well.

Majors: Internships in the Psychology Department – I have had one part time internship already and am going to be completing a second, full time internship this fall (2012). I have had a great experience with the internship opportunities. The internship advisors are very open and available as well as willing to work with you to get you the opportunity that you want. My first internship impacted me so much that it directed me into more education and the path in which I want to establish my career. Most internships through Albion College are unpaid. They are purely for experience.

Majors: Psychological Sciences Major – I love being a psych major at Albion. It has opened my eyes to what I think is my calling in life and has given me lots of opportunities to explore these interests. I have had the chance to do internships and get experience outside the classroom that will make my application process for graduate school this fall more robust and portray me as a worthwhile candidate. I would never change my path at Albion and I think it has shaped me as a person.

Guys & Girls: All Different Kinds – There are lots of different kinds of people at Albion. People who are rich to people who struggle with money and work a ton on campus. Mainly white people but also lots of international students.

Overall Experience: I Love It – Albion College has a great community atmosphere. The professors are great, classes are small which gives you one on one time with professors, and the faculty are also great. There are tons of things to do on campus and there's something for everyone it seems like. There are many good places on campus to study, the dorms are great, and there are many chances to meet new people. I love it here.

Off-Campus Housing: Forget wanting to live on your own. Albion wants you for every penny, so they only allow you to live in their housing. Their board prices are absolutely unreasonable. They do offer houses and apartments, but the cost is awful. and you're not allowed to stay in your house or apartment during breaks.

Greek Life: Greek Life at Albion is HUGE. So many people join sororities and fraternities. They always have special events going on and seem like really fun groups. Even if you're not a part of greek life, it doesn't matter. Everyone is friends with everyone.

Health & Safety: Mostly Safe – Albion is a small campus, and the campus security is always around. They respond to calls if you need help, and you often see them patrolling campus. Student health services is also very helpful. The town of Albion is where you have to be more careful. Some parts of town and some neighborhoods are bad. There have been incidents when towns people get into school buildings and steal. Always walk with someone when it is dark.

Off-Campus Dining: Small Choices – There are very few choices of eateries in Albion. This doesn't mean the quality of the food and service isn't still great. Some times it get repetitive, but the closest "big" city is only 10 minutes away.

Campus Housing: Average Dorms – All dorms are your typical dorms. Being the school is so old (one of the oldest in the nation), the are very well kept up to date. Just slightly small.

Greek Life: I think it speaks for it self that nearly 80% of students participate in Greek life. Every social order has events regularly and the whole campus gets involved.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Definitely Need Car – I haven't experienced traveling without actually having a car at Albion, but I can imagine it is probably difficult especially when someone needs to get somewhere right away. Campus Safety is also pretty good at driving people places as long as they have enough notice ahead of time.

Majors: As a political science major I am very happy with my choices so far as well as the many excellent opportunities provided by the college. Tremendous opportunities to meet and work with presidential candidates, government officials and key leaders.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Opportuinity Enriched Program – The current program provides access to political venues, causes and candidates that are shaping american government.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Drugs Not the Problem, Alcohol Is – The drug scene isn't that bad. It isn't really noticeable and but I can't say what it is like at parties. As far as alcohol, drinking is a pretty popular past time for students, especially on the weekend because there is very little to do within the town on the weekend. Aside from campus events, frat parties draw large crowds.

Athletics: We have great sports at the school. I am apart of the tennis team. It is a great experience.

Academics: There are a lot of people willing to work with you to help you get the best grade possible

4 College Sophomore

Academics: They have a good business program and very easy to get internships.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Not Much to Do – There is not a lot to the town outside of the college campus

5 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: They are very flexible and willing to work with you to solve the problems

Computers: Decent Computer Labs – Albion College has decent programs on their computers for artists, video-making, etc. The computer labs are small and only one is open 24 hours. Around lunch time, the computer labs are packed and I often find myself going from one to the next looking for an open computer. Albion College would really benefit from having more computers. After they renovated the library, it seemed that took away computers. The internet connection is terrible and the you can't always get wireless on your computer so you're stuck with an ethernet cord. Addition IT tends to cause more problems then they fix because it's student-run. Avoid taking your computer problems to them if you can.

Scholarships: Could Be Easier – Albion offers a variety of scholarships for different majors, but some departments are seriously lacking. There is only one Anthropology/Sociology scholarship, whereas Biology has a ton. Additionally, if you receive a departmental scholarship, Albion College has a tendency to take away other scholarships regardless of your hard work. They figure they're just trading one out for another when in reality, you need it. Tuition has gone up $8,000 since my freshman year but their financial aid has not kept up with that. It gets more and more expensive and they get cheaper with what they give you.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – Albion College's girl to guy ratio is pretty even, although there are more girls than boys. There is a variety of different types of guys and girls, but there are certain dominant groups. There are a lot of fraternity and sorority girls on campus and they tend to stay within there own Greek Life community. There are also quite a few athletes, both guys and girls.

Local Atmosphere: Little Town With Little to Do – Ever since the factories went out of business years ago, Albion lost several businesses. Other than finding activities to do on campus, Albion offers little else. There are few good restaurants (ex. Cascarelli's, La Casa) that you'll often find students dining at. The park is also a nice play to take a walk or a bike ride in, but it is suggests you don't go there after dark. In fact, it is not suggested you walk anywhere in town by yourself after dusk. Every year there is a new incident alerted to the students of things that have happened. There is a small Spartan grocery store in town, a Pizza Hut, Arby's a ice cream parlor, and a taco house. Burger King went out of business about year ago. Additionally, the town could not support a movie either and that has been sitting vacant for well over four years. If you are looking for places to go or things to do outside of campus you need to go to neighboring Marshall or Jackson, approximately 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, if you do not have a car or know someone who does, you're out of luck.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Psychology Major Program – The Psychology Major Program is very diverse. There is a huge array of classes to take in order for you to specify your degree. It allows a Psychology major to look at their field in the aspect they choose to.

Overall, Albion College is great for a number of reasons. The small campus makes it easy to make friends immediately and meet new people. While living in Albion can be boring at times, making the most of it is sometimes what will leave you with the most memories. There is a sense of community on Albion's campus that is hard to duplicate anywhere else. This isn't to say that everyone gets along, but there is a certain bond between all Albion students.

Albion's liberal arts education is something that also seems to be unique to the College. The professors are approachable, and their excitement for their courses is infectious. Even when you're taking a class that is not related to your major, you appreciate what you learn and are proud of what you've learned in looking back. Beneath the exterior sometimes, Albion is just a down-home friendly kind of place, and a lot of students seek comfort in that and learn to love where they are.
