3 College Junior

Majors: The process of getting into my Accounting major doesn't require much. Students will need to maintain a C average in every business course level to receive a Bachelors Degree.

Local Atmosphere: Albany State is a nice school but has a way to go to become a great school. The schools setup is fair but needs to be improved and the atmosphere is not as academically based and I need it to be for myself.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: My major is said to be an easy one however I think the complete opposite. Some of the classes that come with my major are difficult but I have professors in my department that are knowledgeable about the topic they teach and they are very helpful when they are not busy.

Diversity: Albany State University is a HBCU meaning historically black college/university. With that being said, most of the students here are black but we do have a small number of white, asian-american, and hispanic students. There are wealthy students and non so rich students. But we as a student body can come together regardless are economic standing. Politics is not a big topic on campus. But as far as sexual orientation, there are a lot of gay men and woman on campus and most people accept these people for who they are.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Mainly because I don't leave off campus, because all the fun is on campus.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I gave it a B, because you don't really see anybody until the events on campus, but when they do step out, they step out well.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The campus has a Zero tolerance for alcohol and or drugs on school grounds. This is not a huge issue on campus and very few incidents involving drugs or alcohol occur. Usage of either is low on campus and peer pressure is very minimal.

1 College Junior

Transportation: Public transportation from the campus to other locations is not great. The buses do not run as often as they should and there is not a very well known alliance with the university and city transportation. There are no shuttles on campus or shuttles that run from campus to local businesses. Without a vehicle or friend who owns a vehicle it is almost impossible to accomplish anything in the city of Albany.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Plenty of scholarship opportunities at Albany State. Some require a certain grade point average or financial situation.

5 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life is strong at Albany State. We have the Devine 9 as well as Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha, Tau Beta Sigma, as well as a myriad of honor societies.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: The nightlife is pretty good. You just have to be careful where you go. I would only attend college parties if I went out for safety reasons. Usually something to do on campus all of the time. There is plenty to do!

3 College Freshman

Majors: I'm not really happy with my program because I feel that things could be better for the most part. I plan on becoming a pediatrcian and the way I am being taught things makes me want to change my major.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: i dont live on campus but when i did i loved it when the ra's werent doing to much

4 College Sophomore

Academics: academics are fine just make sure you stay up on yours

4 College Sophomore

Weather: the weather always depends its hardly never cold but when it is, its freezing

3 College Sophomore

Academics: the professors are not as professional as they should be

5 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The night life is very fun its very open to all ages there are more clubs for under age students of 21 as well as there is a handful of clubs for the adults.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: The campus parking is terrible there are more reserved parking spots for the faculty than it is for the students. So if we so happen to run into traffic and we may be a tad bit late to class trying to find a parking spot will make you extremely late

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I give my campus an A- because we do have security polls but some of the buttons to get help do not work. But i have never heard of an incident on the campus that did not get resolved. Other than that My campus is a beautiful campus filled with love.

College Freshman

Transportation: You basically have to walk everywhere you need to go unless you plan on going somewhere off campus. Albany's campus isn't so big, so transportation isn't really needed unless you have your own car.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I am a freshmen and have not yet had an intership. I do plan in the next year to have an intership if possible. I am doing my research on the career opportunities through my school and I am working hard to start my career. My major is mathematics and my department seems great. The professors are very helpful and seem very excited when they find out what my major is because not many people are majoring in mathematics of any form. I know if I work hard and keep doing my research on my major then it won't be hard to find an intership. I just have to stay connected to my department and my teachers and peers in my department.

Nightlife: Since I am a commuter student, I do not be on campus long enough to experience the night life. However, when I do get the time to stay longer than usual, it is peaceful and calm on the campus. Since my school is right next to the park downtown, when I am at the park I do hear music. I'm not sure what's going on except for partying. I do plan to engage in late night activities on campus later during my school years. For right now I am just focusing my first two years on my education and keeping my grades up. Over all my campus has a safe and fun nightlife.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: It is best to do everything on time or early. I have to keep in mind that I am not the only student that applied for financial aid. That means there are a lot of applications being processed ahead of me. Once I completed one task, I made sure I called within 24hours of my completion to assure the staff when I did that task. After that, I went to meet with my counselor once and got her information. For me, I find that over the phone and email was a faster process than in person meeting. With the help of one the workers there that I attened church with, she helped me also and gave me tips on what to do from now on. #1 dont procrastinate. #2 keep a copy of all my documents for myself (the school can lose documents) #3 record every conversation I have with a staff

Campus Strictness: Albany State University has a strict ZERO TOLERANCE Policy. This includes no drinking, no smoking, no hazing, no sexual misconduct, no gang related activities and no weapons. If you are caught, there is no second chance or warnings. You will be arrested and suspended from the school. When you first attend they give you your first warning by explaining to you their rules. If you don't follow directions then thats your education at jeopardy. You will get caught no matter. They take their school safety seriously. Don't do what others are doing cause in the end they DO GET CAUGHT as well. Be smart. Just don't do it.

Guys & Girls: there are alot of different people with different backgrounds that come to albany state university.
