Student Body: A Growing Body – The student body at ACC is very unique and is full of people from all different walks of life. Many students are moms or grandmothers, teachers, transfer students and workers. The population consists of country folks and city kids, everyone from 16-65 attend ACC. Many different types of people with different career goals in mind. It is an interesting mix of individuals.

Campus Resources: Caring Teachers – As far as I can tell from the professors that I have had at Alamance Community College they are an exceptional group of individuals. They care very much for the well being of their students and are willing to lend a helping hand if necessary. At Universities it is often harder to find professors who care like that. Professors with compassion are such a blessing!

Campus Resources: Facilities Are Great – The most important places for me as a student are the libraries and skills lab. At ACC these locations are very accesible and make it easy for me to get help or find a location that is quiet and a nice place to study.

Online Courses: Challenging Courseload – My major is Mathematics Education, and so far my classes have been challenging. I have set my classes to incorporate aspects of both math and science so that I can experence different types of class and pick a career I enjoy. I welcome the challenges of hard math problems and look foward to many years of complex problems.

Overall Experience: Well Rounded – From the helpful staff and positive atmosphere, my experience at ACC was delightful.

Academic Flexibility: A Convenient Campus – Easy to find classrooms and other areas of interest.

Online Courses: World Religions – I have thoroughly enjoyed my online class. World Religion is the only online class I have ever taken and the experience has been great. The advisor, P. Hardison, has been great in answering questions and posting supplements to further my understanding of the course material. The workload is managable and the online experience teaches time management as well as self motivation.

Academic Flexibility: Academic Flexibility at ACC – I have had a very pleasant experience as far as my teachers and my course curriculum. I am recieving an Associate in Arts degree before transfering to UNC-CH. The teachers were always willing to assist whenever approached. My advisor was very competent and gave me the classes that would best benefit me for when I transfered to Carolina, for he himself was a Carolina graduate.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I believe that I am getting a quality education for the price that I am paying. I do feel, however, that the financial aid process needs to be improved. I did not recieve any financial aid while attending my second year. According to the institute, I did not qualify for financial aid, yet I was paying for it by myself. Because I am still a dependent under age 23, my parents information was accounted for. I applied for the "merritt" based scholarships and did not recieve any of those, yet my GPA was approximately a 3.9. I was told that they were given to need based students. I feel that ACC needs to explore more options for financial aid basis and become more strict on those who are abusing the system.

Academic Experience: Education Major – I am an education major hoping to transfer to a university. my advisor was very helpful in showing my what classes to take & what would transfer.

Campus Resources: All of my instructors at ACC are very helpful & concerned about my education.

Campus Resources: One on One Attention – The director of the program is extremely helpful and full of advice.

Academic Flexibility: My Credits – My credit classes dont get transferred, but i love how i had a wide range of class times to choose fom since i work and go to school full time. My teachers are very helpful as to what classes to take and making sure i get the help i need.

Campus Resources: Open Lab Pcs and Macs – Computers with programs and internet are available in the Academic Skills Lab and Learning Resource Center. Both areas are staffed with knowledgeable and helpful persons, and each has a variety of books, tables, and printers.
Moodle and Access are rarely down; announcements are made prior to maintenance. Wireless access is available in the main building.
I am glad to have a computer at home because the school is not open when I need to use a computer or printer for my classes (usually in the evening and throughout the night).

Overall Experience: How I Feel – I like Alamance Community College. The staff really acts as if they care and wants to be here. It is only 10 minutes away from my house. Starting and signing up was really simple. To me this was a really good decision I made.

Overall Experience: I like the school that I attend. It has many different courses or curriculums available and it wasn't difficult to be accepted upon enrollment. The classes are offered at times that fit in with my work schedule and having to care for my two children at home. I'd recommend this school to friends and family.

5 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I think ACC is a very good school. The professors helps a lot. They will do all they can do to help. Most of my teachers likes to say "I'm here to help you, not see you fail" and they obey by that saying. I would very much recommend this school to anyone.

Campus Resources: The Culinary Arts Curriculum. We are the only school in our state that has the best Culinary
Arts curriculum.

Campus Resources: Small College... Small Everything – There is no athletic center, but this is a commuter school. A student center is on campus, easily accessible, and tutoring is free. The library is rather small, but contains a good study area and computers as well as an easily accessible copy-machine. Campus activities include only clubs.

Campus Resources: Two Types of Kids – All the teachers that I have had love teaching. However, not all the students love learning (go firgure). As far as social scenes go, it seems to be almost an extension of high school for kids around the Burlington, NC area. Campus life is not very existent. Unique opportunities entails a smooth transfer success to any of the UNC schools. There are two types of kids in this school; those who try really hard to transfer, and do well. And those who are complacent with average scores, and this will be the furthest of their education.

Overall Experience: ACC Deserves an a – If I could choose to attend Alamance Community College all over again I would. People might be under the assumption that just because you are going to a community college that you aren't going to get good teachers or a nice place to go to school. All of that is false. In fact, the teachers there are magnificant and do indeed have very high expectations. Just because they are teaching at a community college does not mean that they do not expect students to perform well. I have had my share of very challenging classes over at ACC myself. Since I am transferring to UNC - Chapel Hill in the fall of 2012, I feel that ACC will have me well prepared academically for when I make my transfer. ACC is also very involved in it's club and I am a part of a couple of them as well. Overall I feel that ACC has done a great job of providing it's students with a great place to go to school as well as a great set of teachers. ACC deserves an A.

5 College Junior

Student Body: Study Body – They are very involved and contact students by email.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: The medical program at ACC is large and very successful.

Career Services: I think that ACC offers alot of career opportunities that would fit alot of different people. You can pick more specific majors there and I think job placement after obtaining your degree is a very good one.
