Health & Safety: Typical Crime – Crime at ASU is kind of controlled but ofcourse it has it's moments. Alot of locals (people who don't go to school but live around the area) roam around especially at night. It's break ins like any other school but Police are always on the move. The school is relatively safe in my opinion, its just like any other school with its crime rate.

Overall Experience: I Love It – I love it here. Makes you feel like family. Some teachers and staff are caring. I'm proud to say I attend Alabama State University.

Nightlife: Something for Everyone – At Alabama State University there is always something to do. There are a few house parties which usually are better then the clubs. Clubs usually are for college students as long as you have your school id. Every now and then there are a few that are for 21 or older. If your not a party person and like bowling there is a really cool bowling ally in Montgomery.

Diversity: It's an HBCU!! DUH!! Diversity there is skim. It's an HBCU so its majority African American. People of other ethnic backgrounds such as caucasian. puerto rican, and asain do attend and they seem to feel comfortable. It's welcoming to all people of different backgrounds

Local Atmosphere: It Is What You Make It – Montgomery is a city with a lot of historical significance! But... it lacks in things that would benefit college students. Being that it has many college campuses, it sucks on that level. But then again. college life is what you make it

Parking: Could Be Better, but Overall... Not Bad. Parking availability could be better. However, ASU is doing a lot of renovations, so there should be more parking soon.

Guys & Girls: So Many Different People! There are so many people of different backgrounds, races, and sexualities, and I love them all! It's great to meet people from all over the US and even from out of the country. The people are also very accepting of others from other backgrounds, races, etc. It's just great to know that no matter who you are or where you're from, people will accept you regardless!

Facilities: The newest facility on campus is the new student center, or The Union as we call it. It's a great place for students to study, eat, relax, have fun, etc. The post office, admissions, student accounts, housing, etc. are all located in this building for our convenience. Also, there is a Subway and other restaurants for those who don't want to eat in the cafe. The other facilities on campus are are available to students for whatever they may need.

Academics: Professors Need to Be Advised on How to Advise Students – The faculty and staff are really stuck up. They have major attitudes that need adjusting. It is really hard to stay on track, because the hate to help students.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Halfway Safe – There are a lot of non- students running around the campus. The security should be in forced more. Many police officers are not even qualified for certain situations that occur on campus.

Scholarships: Hurry Hurry Hurry! I didn't receive any scholarships, but I did receive financial aid which covers over half of my tuition. I am now participating in work study to pay for the rest. Alabama State is a school that WILL help those who need and deserve it. One of my friends has a full ride, and others have scholarships that helps pay for books, housing, etc. You just have to be quick and you have to keep in touch with the school just to make sure YOUR stuff is being processed.

Campus Housing: Freshman Dorms :(... Newer Dorms THUMBS UP! Campus housing is available for all students. The dorms on campus are lovely and have been renovated within the past couple of years. The only dorms that have not been renovated are Simpson Hall, Bessie Estell Hall, and MLK Hall. Each dorm is different in it's own way giving students more to choose from during their housing selection process.

Local Atmosphere: Small City, Great School, Big Family – Montgomery may not be a huge city, but it's full of rich history. It's a work in progress just like Alabama State and I still enjoy it, even with the construction everywhere. I enjoy going out with my friends because regardless if we're going to a huge party off campus or if we're just chilling in The Union, we're always having fun and enjoying each others company!

Overall Experience: Alabama State University is the best place to be because it is very educational and cheap.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Public transportation is okay around Alabama State University. The buses runs mainly when there are away games.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Nightlife is for students who are 21 or older. I really don't go out I meanly study to keep my grade up in all my classes.

4 College Senior

Computers: Labs Are Crowed During School Hours – The computers at Alabama State University are crowded during school hours when student are trying to type papers, do homework and send email to different teachers.

5 College Freshman

Parking: The parking is very strict. If you are ever caught parking in the wrong spot u will always get a boot put on your car. i dont know the cost since i dont drive.

Nightlife: Night Life – The nighlife is very fun on the weekend the most part. there are a ot of cubs that are open then and they also provide rides to and back. a lot of the students like to just sit outside and conversate.

Off-Campus Dining: There are no places aroud here that you can walk to. in order to get a good meal you would have to go up to another exit !!! if you dont have a car you dont really have a way up there .

4 College Freshman

Majors: School Programs – Right now, I am taking my basisc classes, not too easy, not too hard. however when it comes to making my schedule and meeting with my advisors, it is very convient and they are very helpful. With each field of study you have your own buliding where your main focus will be whatever your major is. Being that I am a psychology major, I will be in the Psych department by next year.

Off-Campus Dining: Surrounding Dining – My ASU campus is surrounded by a different varieties of restaraunts such as McDonalds', Zaxby's, Burger King, Wendy's, Subway, Chinese Restaurants, and a whole lot more. Even though all of the food is not healthy, it is up to us students to choose what we will eat. Prices are pretty average and there are not many places where we get student discounts, but I have not had a bad experience with Subway which is my favorite, so that's a plus.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The Campus Security – The campus security seems to be at the corner of each street. Our school has emergency booths at almost corner as well where we can call if there are any incidents that needs to be reported. During orientation and meetings, police officers are at every meeting and have given us there phone numbers. There was also a night when I had ordered some some food and needed an escort but the police was right there to assist me before I needed to find someone. Overall our campus security is awesome.

Parking: Parking at ASU is awful. If all your classes are morning or late at night you will be fine . If not be ready for boots.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: ASU at a Glance – ASU is a HBCU in Montgomery Al. Majority of all students here are black all students of any other race are on scholarship. This school has a bad rep for a brawll that was in the caff last semester . Since this incodent things have got strict and the atmostphere changed. i love myasu.
