4 College Junior

Majors: The College of Business Administration at Alabama State University is extremely straight-forward. You have a certain number of hours to complete and your adviser will outline the entire process for you.

5 College Junior

Majors: Being in a specific program at ASU is awesome because you're learning only things that you know you will need to be successful in that field.

Weather: The only way to describe the weather is to say that it is typical Alabama weather.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drug usage is highly discouraged in several forms and by several people. Alcohol and drug usage are illegal on campus.

Greek Life: Greek life at Alabama State University is among the top ranked for HBCUs. They do not receive special on-campus housing. Therefore most of them have chapter houses off campus. Majority of the non-Greeks view the Greeks as if they are the same as them. They're just regular people who are a bit more dedicated to serving their communities.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Scholarships are pretty good at Alabama State. They pay exactly what they say they will. There are a wide variety of scholarships to earn as well and not just before you get here, but also while you're attending Alabama State.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: The shopping is mediocre but because there are so many surrounding colleges, there are lots of people in the same age bracket and all looking for the same thing. There are several sporting events to attend year-round and with Montgomery being the capitol city, there are plenty of attractions.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is good to have, but its not essential because there are on campus apartments that offer just as much freedom.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: There is always a party to attend. These parties vary in style such as raves, house parties, or simply clubbing. There are also several laid back events including jazz and poetry night.

3 College Junior

Computers: There are several computer labs available, whether in the library or other academic buildings. There is campus-wide Wi-Fi. However, it goes out occasionally when it storms. It would be extremely beneficial if the school offered us discounted software, at the least, but they do not.

Nightlife: Remember its college parties and can get a little wild. Some have even been shut down for too many people. Most are in walking distance from the campus.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: If you like hot this is the place to be. Its warm 8 out of 12 months. It rains often but is tolerable. I'm from a northern area and we get all four seasons.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Depending on which dorm you choose the perks are different. The more you pay the better you stay. New Facilities are the best, cleaniest, and everything works. The campus is improving everyday.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The turn out and support for the sporting events are great. I'm not a sports person when I'm not directly involved but the fans are pumped and the alumni are supportive

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I'm from a diverse high school and I notice that this campus is more acceptable of others. I've notice all walks of life and everyone seems to be okay

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: If you are interested in the Civil Rights Movement this is the place to be. Lots of cutural events during

Black History month. Music and events along the riverfront.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The typical resturants and stores are within walking distances. You will need a car to get to the Ihop, Applebees or Chicken joints. Not to many places offers discounts or I just haven't ran across one. In a pinch you'll be a few miles for the local walmart and dollar store

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The location of the school makes it difficult to keep crime out, but campus police do a good job. their are security measure in place for teacher to contact you in case of an emergency and speakers thought out the campus for safety.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I use the policies, campus police and RA. They are their when you need them and very visible. They will not hestitate to tell you to pull your pants up, remove a cap or pack your things.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Overall it is a good school. Its pretty far from home and I did not receive a scholarship. It was a choice. It allow me the chance to grow as an individual away from my siblings. The caring staff keeps me here. I have had some scary run ins but overall all the experiences have been good.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Students are their for each other. You find them sitting together in study groups and looking out for each other during classes. There are many opportunites to work with others who are not involved in greek life. Housing is sometimes based on you GPA. so you may want to stay in the dorm rather than in one of the houses. It is a HBCU so all the greeks are accounted far.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: For those who are serious about getting a education the work load is reasonable. You must put in your study hours in order to be successful. The curriculum is comparable to those of other universities. Registration can be frustrating when you have never did it before but the advisors are welcoming and willing to help

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had one yet

Yes I plan to have a couple of internships. I'm looking for a variety of information and practice to find the one that best suits me.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: So far its great. I have teachers/ instructors that are willing to support and encourage my growth. I as hoping for more opportunites to work and attend school outside the country.
