Campus Housing: Differences of Living on and Off-Campus – I am a former on-campus student at Alabama A&M University and I must say that I had a rather bittersweet experience while on-campus. Foster Complex is where I had my best experience as a college student. Foster Complex was my favorite dorm for many reasons. First, due to the dorm having a nice kitchen, common area, and two separate bedrooms. Next, because of how convient the cafeteria was. Finally, the ability of cooking food and the amount of space that the dorm room offered. Morris Hall, which is not a bad dorm, had some faults, compared to Foster Complex. Sometimes, my heating and cooling systems were not working. The availability of public showers were small, due to the student-to-shower ratio and the lack of all working showers.

Scholarships: Long Lines for What? The financial process is a major headache. The lines are so long to talk to a person that you can literally leave and come back hours later and they still have not called your name. Sometimes the things a person needs, like signing/turning in a document, could be performed online or in a more efficient manner rather than waiting in line for hours for a conversation of less than 5 minutes. The process should be done strictly on the computer.

Nightlife: Different Clubs/Same Crowds – There are plenty of clubs to choose from, but typically you end up seeing the same people.

Campus Dining: Needs Improvement – The cafeteria is not located in the center of campus so there is a distance to travel and not necessarily readily avaliable access. The food is not bad, actually better than the surrounding eateries. The options surrounding campus is scarce and all the options are unhealthy.

Athletics: the athletics at alabama a&m are nice and have a lot of school spirit. they are also respectful of other sports and they are also motivating others to join their team

Guys & Girls: Boys and Girls at a&M – the boys and girls at A&M dress presentable and the boys are mostly respectful. The girls on the other hand are very nice and friendly

Computers: the computers at alabama a&m are always avaliable but the WiFi in the dorms are horriable. the WiFi often gets cutt off and runs really slow.

Scholarships: Long Lines, and terrible attitudes. Fortunately, I was able to bypass some of those bear traps because of early preparation.

Overall Experience: Alabama A&M is what a student makes it. It has its high's and low's. Overall, the pain is worth price. Sometimes.

Health & Safety: Moderately Safe – I have never felt unsafe on my campus. Not to say that crime and violence is not a problem; I personally, have never been faced with an unsafe moment.

Transportation: Only been to campust once to meet with advisor and was not good.

College Junior

Campus Dining: I do not know bc I have not started yet. I will be starting next semester in 2 months

Drug Safety: Being Different – The drug scene at Alabama A&M University is something of choice. Some people tend to have their habits but from what i see they don't really try to pressure anyone into doing anything they dont want to.

2 College Freshman

Diversity: Majority Black – The campus isn't very diverse but the few of different races are treated as equals. Everyone can be themselves freely on the campus.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dinig is very pleasant there are many different selections.

Local Atmosphere: Not Much to Do Only School. Being that there is a limit on the things to participate in here in Huntsville , Alabama, you have no choice but to focuse on your studies. Thats the only entertainment here.

Local Atmosphere: A Place Called Home – this place is totally attractive to any students due to its geography.

Facilities: Alabama a&M – Alabama A&M University can be set apart from other schools because of its history. Before you attend this University, you should do some research on this school. We also have many organizations, that I cannot keep up with. Our Athletics is outstanding.Go Bulldogs!

Weather: The school and entire town was shut down last April because of tornadoes, and prior to that in February the town and school were shut down for aprox. 3 days because of heavy snow.

Parking: Paking is not all that great. Campus police are very strict and will ticket and have your car towed. I th8ink that we should have more flexibilty with the whole parking situation since the student body is rather large.

Computers: Computer Labs at Alabama a&M – A&M's Wi-Fi is very accessible luckily there are 3 or more places you can print for free. The library is an awesome place for research and other computer necessities. The Librarians are also very helpful and beneficial to students the take time and work with students.

Local Atmosphere: Atmosphere for Alabama a&M University – Here in Normal Alabama there is not really much to. It is a small city unfortunately but if you are extremely familiar with the city you will see that you could always find things to do if it fits you finacial status. Bridge Street which includes the Zone is the most popular place to go and security is stricly enfored. The Zone is a very safe place for everyone of all ages. Here at the Zone you can shop for and look for all the finest clothes and latest trends.

Diversity: There is not a great diversity of races on this campus, but there sexual orientation. Not sure about political beliefs, religion or economic background. I can say that it is a friendly campus and I haven't feel any particular viewpoints are being pushed on students. For the record, I am a minority (white) at this historically black college.

Facilities: The college has several computer labs, a health & wellness center, good library and the campus is relatively attractive. There are several old & historic buildings, but some have mold. Classroom temperatures can be uncomfortable. Most of the instructors are good, but administration not so much. However, I have seen improvements in that since I started attending.Needs better student center in my opinion. Campus is somewhat difficult to navigate due to being on steep hillside. Parking situation has been bad for commuters, but is improving with this year's stricter enforcement for resident student parking.

Facilities: Good and Improving – Our university was built on hills in 1875. Most of our buildings are historic. Our most recent facilities are the Louis Crews Stadium which can accommodate 25,000 and its nearby field house; the Drake Library, has been renovated and has several computer labs, meeting rooms, and an elevator. The student center has just recently been renovated also and is a welcoming site for the new student coming to our campus. Campus activities has its shortcomings but we have new leadership and so I am anxious to see what is in their plans for this student area of interest.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The A&M experience is excellent! Students who have graduated from A&M often say that there is no place like "The Hill." Sure, students complain about the long financial aid lines, old buildings, and out-of-date resources, but when asked if they would do it all over again and still make A&M their first choice, many have said they would. A&M is truly a "home away from home." It's a great place for students to discover who they are and who they can become. Being a historically black college, A&M has so much history engraved in its roots. After attending A&M, students gain a greater appreciation for their heritage and for those who came before them. Also, out of all the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), A&M has one of the best food science programs. It is one of the only HBCU's that has an accredited program. Most of the students who graduate from A&M with a food science degree are employed and working for major companies like Coca-Cola.

A&M is a great school to attend. Lifelong friendships and connections are made on this campus. Students at A&M are more than classmates—they're family. They encourage and support each other throughout their academic journey.
