Local Atmosphere: Agnes is close to downtown Decatur, which has many places to dine out but it lacks a nightlife -- everything (even McDonald's) closes at 10. Safety around campus great because the schools owns most of the property around the campus and renters have to go through a special screening process. Gettin away from campus it easy because the Marta, public transportation, is just down a couple of blocks. And because Agnes prides itself of diversity and acceptance, the student body is very unaccepting of non-accepting people, if that makes sense. For example, if you believe that fur coats is nice, most people will not be able to respect that you like fur coats and will brand you as an animal killer or something.

Local Atmosphere: There are lots of local attractions near Agnes Scott. Many restaurants and places to shop. If you don't have a car there's MARTA and most places are within walking distance so getting somewhere isn't a problem and Agnes Scott is surrounded by other schools so there's a lot to do for fun.

Guys & Girls: You'll find all kinds of girls at Agnes Scott from all around the world. Agnes Scott is very rich in diversity.

Campus Housing: Living on campus can really be a pain especially considering what one can receive...If you want space one has to sacrifice air . Or if you want air then one is sacrificing space... However if you a junior or senior then you really have the pick of the liter... (i.e. the campus apartments with space and air)

Facilities: Student life on campus truly depends of the type of person you are...there's lots of outdoor activities if you enjoy nature and campus center if you enjoy the gossip. Or the dorm room media rooms if you like the staying inside and enjoying the company of others as far as meeting new people.... Any place could turn into a hangout area....

3 College Junior

Facilities: The different programs here a pretty diverse as far as getting what you want. The campus does there best to accommodate to there students if something isn't offered. However, one has to do a lot of research as far as you interest go because the school isn't going to help as far as doing the extra labor unless you do... Now for social events, Agnes really isn't the school to attend if your trying party, there are social events just far and in between. We do have a lot of traditions that require active engagement from the students but as far as frat parties and concerts Agnes really isn't the place for that...There are very focused when it comes to academics.

3 College Junior

Athletics: The athletic department isn't really that big as far as the choices. The gyms are okay but not great...

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Depending on your Major, it will vary if internships are a requirement. I haven't had one yet but I do plan to. I want to work with physical therapists in a hospital setting. The school offers an internship connection program but the best way to find what fits you perfectly is your own research.

Facilities: The facilities here are nice. Agnes Scott is a historic school so the beauty of the campus in undeniable. As for specific places, the student center is nice. There are places to study, workout room, piano, pool table, and an eating area called "The Hub" where students can eat and talk while watching tv. The library is very nice with multiple places to study in a quiet area.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I am a Psychology Major and it is the most popular major on campus. The professors in this department are passionate and knowledgeable. The workload isn't too bad. It challenges you to think about what is learned and how to apply it outside of class. They are very helpful in finding internships/ job opportunities for students.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The academics here can be rigorous. Each professor is very passionate about their discipline of study, so taking classes with professors with the same passion as you is exciting. The workload depends on which classes you are taking. Popular study places are in the library, the science building, or in our student center.

Off-Campus Dining: Agnes Scott is located in the city of Decatur which is 10 mins away from Atlanta. There are so many spots from sushi, Mexican, Asian, American, etc. Whatever food you like sure enough a place you will like isn't more than 15 mins away.

1 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There is only one apartment that is off campus. If you want to live off campus and not in that apartment its pretty hard to do so. Decatur is pretty expensive and Agnes does not allow it.

4 College Freshman

Parking: Agnes has a lot of parking. Parking is pretty cheap compared to other schools. If you do not want to pay the $100 per year to park there are places close to campus to park.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe unless there is a function that is open to anyone. Agnes is pretty secluded so no one really bothers to do anything.

5 College Junior

Diversity: The college is very big on celebrating diversity with events and campus organizations. For such a small college, there are a significant number of international students, as well as overall racial diversity and a noticeable queer community on campus.

1 College Junior

Nightlife: There is no nightlife at Agnes Scott. Everyone who enjoys partying usually ends up at one of the other schools nearby-- Georgia Tech, Morehouse, etc.

4 College Junior

Academics: The classes are intimate, professors are very intelligent and the college environment is heavily focused on academics. However, sometimes I feel there is too much emphasis on class discussion/critical thinking-- both are excellent qualities, but it would be beneficial to have a little more balance in the classroom environment

5 College Freshman

Academics: The academics are very rigorous at Agnes, this school will leave you more than prepared for the real world! In Atalanta especially, all the businesses know that any girl form Agnes is a hardworking, well mannered , and perfect for any task!

Guys & Girls: Because Agnes is an all girls school, there aren't as many men around. But it is not difficult to find men through activities, or classes and things. I have been in a long term relationship since I started Agnes, so when I am on campus I generally am not looking for other men.
Something else to note, because it is an all girls school, Agnes has a higher than average lesbian population and people of other sexual orientations. So if you are not looking for men, you will not have a problem fitting in.
No matter the sexual orientation, everyone at Agnes is wonderful, hard working, and friendly. It is a great environment for anyone.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Agnes has a very strict Honor Code, it is not taken lightly. Each person is expected to behave, act responsibly, and up hold the great reputation of the school. Because Agnes is so small, they are able to select only people they think will follow the Honor Code. As result, there is little need for rules, police, or strictness. There are always police around, but that is just to ensure safety of the young female students and to make sure you feel comfortable. Agnes is a very friendly school, unless you break the Honor Code.

5 College Junior

Diversity: Is there an A+++ option? Agnes Scott is a majority minority school, meaning that over 50% of the college is composed of people of color and international students. There is also a spiritual diversity on campus, with all kinds of clubs-- Daughters of Gaia, Muslim Student Association, NewLife, Baptist Campus Ministry, etc. present around the historically Presbyterian campus. There are people of all economic backgrounds, and plenty of non-traditional students (24+) who are returning for their degrees. Agnes has recently instituted a policy that any female-identified student is welcome at the college, regardless of sex assigned at birth. There is a vibrant LGBTQIA community on campus, and health resources available to people of all sexualities and gender identities. While there are some things to improve on, the overwhelming amount of diversity on campus truly makes Agnes Scott College stand apart in its region and in its class of institution.

Parking: There's a parking deck on one side of campus that is generally pretty open (and free for visitors!). A parking decal for students is fairly reasonable, as far as I can tell (I don't drive a car, I have a scooter), and allows parking access to all student lots on campus. Compared to other schools, Agnes parking is actually very accessible and close to mostly everything the school can offer.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: For the most part, Agnes Scott College attracts plenty of great people, people who are great beyond just the bounds of perception of beauty. Athletes, nerds, musicians, every type of person you can imagine comes to Agnes Scott and is able to participate in the community. As Agnes is a women's college, it accepts all female-identified individuals (regardless of sex assigned at birth), is a safe space for those who may identify as trans- or gender-nonconforming, and seeks to stay true to the intent of its founders to provide a safe learning environment for ALL of its students. With that intent in mind, there is no one way to categorize Agnes Scott Scotties. Feisty, fierce, and fabulous are some words that come to mind, but we don't really hold with traditional standards of beauty here. You'll find that Scotties rely on their brains as well as their beauty to get ahead at Agnes Scott. As cheesy as it sounds, there isn't one type of beauty or charm at Agnes Scott. It's the mix of what everyone brings to the college that makes the campus community beautiful.

Weather: There isn't much you can do about the Georgia weather (if you don't like it, don't worry- just wait five minutes and it'll change), but weather (really just rain) on this size of a campus doesn't really put a damper (ba-dum-TSS) on activities or having fun around campus. There are places to hang out in the residence halls and campus buildings, and there's also entertainment just down the street in downtown Decatur.

Agnes Scott is a liberal arts school with a small professor-to-student ratio, with rigorous academics and a thriving club life. The professors are all passionate about the subjects they teach and have had some experience in their fields, too. For the most part, they bring their all to each class. Not only are the professors intelligent and passionate, but they are also personable. There are few professors who are difficult to speak with about problems, anxieties, or comments about a class. The same can be said for all of the faculty and staff at Agnes. Everyone is committed to allowing students to learn and grow. The small community helps everything be personal.

Agnes helps to shape students into well-rounded individuals with the skills to enter a career. In order to get the full Agnes experience, it's important to put yourself out there. Many skills can't be acquired without reaching out to the College's offices or clubs/organizations. However, the most important thing any prospective student should remember about Agnes when making her big decision is that Agnes is a small, private, women's liberal arts college. All of these factors are important to consider because they will determine the experience you have. All in all, the Agnes experience is a wonderful one, but students should be aware that this experience is only obtained if they actively engage in the community around them.
