Health & Safety: I feel very safe on the campus. The Campus Police tour the campus often.

Nightlife: The parties on campus are boring. I'd rather go to clubs off campus

2 College Senior

Campus Dining: Not Enough Vegetables – The Dining Hall provides an abundance of starches. Not enough vegetables and variety of salads. Too much of the same foods.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Very strict with enforcing rules about no drinking on the campus. Adelphi is a dry campus so there is not drinking allowed. I like the idea because it keeps the campus a safer place for students and staff.

Off-Campus Housing: Not Sure – I do not stay off campus, so I am unable to elaborate on this question.

Greek Life: Being in a Sorority – i love being part of a sorority. Girls stick together and become sisters in every true sister. We are motivated in assisting charities and each other.

Scholarships: It Was Difficult – it was hard dealing with financial aid when your middle class. You don't have money to pay but you don't qualify for loans either.

Local Atmosphere: Very Good Atmosphere – i feel very safe and at home on the campus. The area around is safe.

Health & Safety: Very Safe – Public Safety can be a little overbearing at times, but it's easy to tell that they have your best interests at heart. There are phones all over campus. In addition, you have to use and ID card to get into residence halls and after six, you have to sign in any guests. You have to fill out a form for anyone to stay over night. Although there are definitely crime on campus, should you take measures such as locking your door and putting anything valuable away, it's easy to stay safe. I always feel safe on campus, especially because the area around it is Garden City, a very safe community,.

Transportation: Sometimes Inconvienent – It's really good to have a car on campus because although the shuttle is free, it's inconvenient to have to plan your outing around what time they want you back. In addition, it doesn't go everywhere. It's easy to find taxi's, but much more expensive. In all, it's hard to complain considering you don't have to pay to use a shuttle.

Campus Dining: Not the Best – There are four places for students to eat on campus. The most popular is the University Center cafe, followed by the buffet style Post Hall, Starbucks, and a snack booth by the gym. The food is often healthy, and they change it up, but it never looks fresh. You do get sick of the provider that the school uses, called Lackmann. The price is ridiculous for the type of food you are eating, especially because it never looks good, and doesn't taste that great.

Academics: Amazing Department – I am in love with my major. I'm a vocal performance major at Adelphi, and it really gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I would have transferred had I not auditioned. I just wish I had done it before my first semester, rather then my second, because I love it so much. The program challenges me in ways I didn't know existed. I love the building I'm in. It's new, beautiful and wonderful to work in. The work load is possible, as long as you stay on top of it. A lot of the work you do is optional, because you really dictate how much you want to practice. What you put in, is what you get out of it. If you put in a million hours of blood, sweat and tears, you're going to get better. If you do nothing, you won't be anything. If you need help, your professors are there for you. It's easy to get to know them. I've found that music theory is my weakest point. I had to work hard to get a good grade last semester. But it was satisfying to know that I did so well. In all, if you want to work, you'll do amazingly. If you don't put the time in, you won't get any better.

Academics: Amazing Professors – I am a music major at Adelphi, so I often get the same professors more then once. You really get to know them and their general knowledge is amazing. I've found that in most cases, within and outside of my major the professors are really there to help you. The workload is manageable, as long as you are on top of your studies. However, in order to be a performance major, a lot of rehearsing is involved, and however much you put in is what you get out of it. Because the school is small, it's easy to get to know your professors, and one on one time with a professor is easy to get. Most students study in the library, which can get crowded, but most times is an amazing resource. In all, academically Adelphi really goes above and beyond expectations.

Computers: Crowded and Slow – I was a commuter last year, so in order to get any work done, I had to use the labs. They were often crowded, and a little loud sometimes. My school is a predominantly commuter school. so there should really be more space for labs. I also didn't realize that printing could get so expensive. The network can often be slow, especially when there are a lot of people using it. If you are a resident, a laptop is a must. If you commute, you do not need to bring a personal computer every day, but if you know you have a deadline and you need to get work done, you should bring a computer for that day.

Scholarships: Process Was a Hassle – Although I have received any aid and scholarships that I need, it has taken multiple visits to the office in order for any progress to be made. My only complaint is how long it took for the school to get my scholarships together. It took them months to get everything to work smoothly, which trampled on payment deadlines and I had to fight not to pay more then I was supposed to. You will get your aid here, you just really need to be on top of the office to get it.

Majors: Wonderful Department – I am a vocal performance major at Adelphi University. It was probably the greatest decision I've ever made. It gives me a reason to wake up in the morning. I love my classes. I love my professors. I would have transferred had it not been for this department. My only regret is not auditioning sooner (I auditioned about halfway through my freshman year). To students who are considering Adelphi music, I can only tell them this. It is one of the most rigorous majors out there, but for completely different reasons then most majors you come across. The classes and the work load are definitely possible as long as you make the effort. What makes being a music major difficult, is the amount of time, patience, and work that you put into rehearsing, practicing and making your sound the best it could possibly be. What you give, is what you receive. The professors here are there to help you. Considering the smaller class size, it is easy to get to know your professors. My weakness is music theory. Adelphi offers a pre-theory class, and I had to work very hard for the grade I got. It was worth every second. Should you choose the department here, you will not be disappointed.

Off-Campus Housing: there are apartments near the school but this is a well-to-do neighborhood so the rent isn't cheap

4 College Freshman

Computers: For the time I used them, they work relatively well.

Parking: It may seem as if there may be no parking, but there are tons of places available to park. You may not get lucky all the time at finding a spot right away but there is parking no matter the circumstance. You're always alerted before hand if something is going on with parking lots and everything. Public safety takes their job very seriously so you must have your car registered.

Academics: Biology Major – I personally think some of the science professors want you to fail, but some actually want you to succeed.

Computers: Computer Labs – Sometimes all of the computer labs around get really full,so your better off bringing your own laptop

Campus Housing: Quality of Housing – There are currently 7 residential buildings on campus. 2 of these buildings are newer and are more expensive but they offer rooms with a private bathroom and air conditioning. The rest of the buildings aren't terrible to live in but there are communal bathrooms and there are frequently problems with laundry machines. One of the biggest buildings holds about 250 residents and is the closest to any of the academic buildings and the University Center.

Off-Campus Dining: Nearby Eating – There are plenty of places close enough to the school that keep you entertained, so to speak. There are fast food as well as restaurants that offer a sit down meal. Most of these are popular chain restaurants but there are also some local places with their own personal menus and personality.

Majors: Very Easy – As an intended psychology major, my advisor helped to lead me on a path that would set me up with classes to explore my area of study. I haven't found any difficulties in choosing this major, and the classes I'm taking now are confirming my likes and dislikes, leading me on a very dedicated and hardworking path.

Health & Safety: Extremely Safe – Adelphi's campus is beautiful and cozy. The circular design of this campus makes it easy to navigate, and eliminates the fear of being in an unsafe environment. I feel at home here
