5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Very good a lot of options to choose from and they all do great community service and philanthropy work

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: The school is predominately white but there is a large variety of many different races and religions. Everyone is accepted regardless of their differences.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: Weather is typical NY weather. Cold in the fall and winter, warmer in the spring and hot in the summer.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Adelphi is a dry campus and also drug free. I have never seen anyone use drugs on campus. However, kids sometimes pregame in their rooms before the go out to bars. It's not a problem though because the policy is strict so most people don't risk it.

Weather: If you're coming from a hot sunny region, don't expect the same here. Adelphi is on Long Island, so the weather is temperate. If you like rain and snow during the winter, with sunny skies and beaches during the spring and summer, (along with gorgeous flowers blooming around campus,) then you should like it here.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: At no point have I been invited to do drugs with any of the students I spend time with.

Facilities: Adelphi has a beautiful campus. It is like a small town. The landscaping and the statues and buildings are beautiful. Each year the graduating class donates a new piece to the campus and everything is very attractive. I do not have a lot of time to participate in campus activities because in order to afford to be at Adelphi I work as well as attend school,

Campus Strictness: I feel very secure on campus and I appreciate seeing that there is security available on the campus. However, at no point have I every been nervous while at school.

Nightlife: Adelphi is mostly a commuter college. On the weekends the campus is fairly empty.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received $9,000. Sadly I didn't score high enough on the SATs to get some of their top scholarships. Meeting the financial requirements is difficulty and my father is hoping I consider transferring to Queens College for my last two years.

Off-Campus Dining: Adelphi is located in a very nice part of Long Island - Garden City. It is close to a lot of places to grab a bite to eat. You can spend a lot or a little. Adelphi is also close to the mall and there are quite a few places in the mall to eat.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Though the majority at Adelphi is white there is enough of a mix to make everyone feel welcome. I am a part of the global group and most of the students in this organization are of mixed backgrounds.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: To date I have not been chosen to participate in an internship. I know as an education major I will be student teaching at a participating school. I look forward to being at that point in my education.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus seems to be pretty safe. There have been a few instances of things being stolen from people's dorm rooms, but that could have been prevented if they had locked their doors. Public safety doesn't really do anything, but I've never felt unsafe on campus

Off-Campus Dining: There are a decent number of options. My favorites are Avellino's (Italian) and Cherry Valley deli. There are a lot of Chinese restaurants that deliver too. Other than these options, everything else is pretty expensive, but it might be worth it since campus food is so bad.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: It is almost impossible to eat healthy with campus dining. The food is all overpriced too. In the University Center (UC), there are 5 food stations: pizza, fast food, mexican, wraps, and one that changes. It may seem like plenty of options, but it all gets old after about a month. They have premade salads and sandwiches as well, but a lot of the salads go over the dollar limit for a meal and they aren't vegetarian. Post Dining Hall is best avoided. Most of the food is cooked poorly and if there is no pizza, there are almost no vegetarian options.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I can go around any corner and find what I need, a store, food, bar.

4 College Junior

Facilities: My school has a great everything, student center, library, performing arts program but its just not up there with some other bigger universities. I love the small campus! sometimes I wish I were surrounded by more motivated performers.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Zero tolerance for on campus drinking and drug use.

Nightlife: Not many house parties but the bar scene is cheap and fun!

5 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Public safety does not play, have your ids on you make sure your parking decal is in the right place and is updates and do not affiliate with the wrong crowd.Disobeying housing rules will get you into to trouble the r.a's are nice but lenient only to an extent. Over all its a safe and its a great place to study and be productive.

4 College Junior

Academics: Some of the classes are more serious and some are not on a whole I felt that my first semester there adequately prepared me for what I was to face further in my college years. The freshman seminar class need to be re-worked they should create something like that and they should make it more major specific the second semester.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: The public safety office on campus does their job, you can go for a mid-nite walk and you will feel secure because the public safety trucks can be spotted circling around campus. The people that work there are friendly and can answer question about shuttle bus schedule's the officers in the booth even help you out if your car batteries needs a jump start.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: the kitchen does not have dishes but over all it is great. The R.A's are phenomenal and the dorms are in once central location, they are also not far from anything on campus, everything is just about ten minutes away even the furthest thing.
