Tuition & Financial Aid: The biggest downside of my school is that they don't offer much by way of financial assistance, and the tuition is so high that I can't afford to go full time year round. Also, I can't afford my supplies. I'm a single parent with four children---it would be nice to feel like there was some extra support going on.

Online Courses: The university is not very progressive about making the online experience interactive. It could really use a revamping, as the peer to peer and prof/student interactions are limited to message boards. Very 1995.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Some classes are very useful, while others seem repetitive and not so full of knowledge. For example, if you take the first class in a series, and take the second class. The second class leans heavily toward repeating everything over again more than progressing on what you learned in the first class.

Academic Flexibility: I'm an online student, and every week assignments are due, but its up to me when I work on them during the week.

College Sophomore

Student Body: I am an online student so my interactions are only with other online students. I've never met anyone with a bad attitude. Everyone seems to have the same attitude and excitement for learning.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The fashion merchandising program is supposed to be one of the best in the country, I just wish the school had a more selective entrance policy. It can be extremely frustrating to constantly be working around students who don't care or don't deserve to be there.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: They really need to offer more financial aid for students as private school is expensive. The financial aid department is nice and helpful.

4 College Senior

Online Courses: The online program is one of the very best. there's always room for improvements.

Campus Resources: I am studying Fashion Design and around the Bay Area, it seemed to be the only school that is accredited and will give you a chance to be featured in the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week if you are in the Masters Program.

Student Body: Because the Academy of Art University is located in San Francisco, the diversity from the city is amazing. We have students from all over the world here at this school. However, with such diversity, there are often a language barrier and some students seems to be there because they just want to be away from home. The Fashion Department always seemed more like a run-way show than it is a campus.

Campus Resources: There are many buildings that belong to the Academy and each serve its purpose. There are places students can go and hang out in between classes, a gym, and a library on the 6th floor at 180 New Montgomery so students can go to get their work done.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The computer network at the Academy is good, depending on which building you are at. Because there are so many campuses and different departments, it is fair to say it's different at all the locations. There are computers for use at each campus but it is solely used to check the bus schedule.

Campus Resources: As an online student, I can not say anything about o campus. The resources for online are much better than I expected and very useful.

Academic Flexibility: The flexibility of the classes is great. It is what attracted me to the school originally. I am an online student and the instructors are quick to respond.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: The classes are exciting and very informative. The professors are great, and always will to help and understand your situation. Depends on the class the workload can be a lot sometimes, but the classes are great. You get to me other students from different cultures and countries. A very rewarding experience.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: I take my classes online which allows me to work as well. There is not a lot of interaction since it's done from the computer, but I still learn so much and connect well with my professors. If you can focus and keep up with reading the assignments, participate in discussions with classmates, and turning in your classwork on time, then online classes are for you!

4 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: While the cost per unit is expensive, the insights, recommendations, and the benefit of the instructors' real world experiences makes it well worth the cost. So far, those I have met are professional, knowledgeable, and very generous with their expertise.

Academic Flexibility: Everything I have done at the Academy of Art is a decision of my own! The fault is all my own as I choose to experience, learn, and realize my own needs as I, and I alone wish to build a dream.

Academic Experience: I am a Fine Arts major, and my classes are what I expected them to be so far. All the classes I am taking now support and give me knowledge related to my major. The workload for a Fine Arts major here is intensive but not overwhelming.

Career Services: Job Prospects? As I go to school for Motion Pictures and Television, every class represents an opportunity to connect with the future members of my field. Also, the teachers are all required to be professionals, so every teacher is a lead as well. That's a great thing about the school.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Usually worth the cost – My school is pricey---but the information at hand, and the level of experience the professors bring to the classroom is absolutely invaluable! I am a distance learner, and attend classes completely online. This semester, there was a problem with an absentee teacher, and I was able to get the proper contact information and the school handled it swiftly, which vastly improved the experience right away.
The variety of classes is excellent, though if a teacher is disengaged, the experience is bad. And, sometimes, the subject matter is outdated (old technology being taught, etc).

Overall Experience: Firmly middle to low end of the road school. Expensive, and if the teacher is engaged, the classes are great. If the teacher is not, the experience is beyond terrible.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Flexibility is great for any student who wants to study and learn online. The class schedules are designed to work around students personal schedule.

Academic Experience: This grade is the reflect of mine there, I came without knowledge of the field or major picked, they built me from ground up, the AAU offers great student support, I'm rocking A's and I never performed that well in my life.
