Academic Experience: No Training from Instructors – For the tuition we are charged we don't get any education from most of the instructors, only tutorials from web sites. It has been disappointing to say none the least.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Needs Changed – No special rates for senior citizens; most of the financial aid people act like bill collectors, accounts receivable not any better. They only know about federal loans and offer no assistance for any other types or even give suggestions.

Overall Experience: Has been a great experience so far. Most of the teachers are very good, my director of the school is out of this world.

Campus Resources: Designed for Artists by Artists – This University was established in the late 1920's by artists for artists. Their curriculum fits every scope of art that is in the Art World today. They are really unique and professional.

Campus Resources: Online Library – They need to revamp this so it is more useful for online students. Right now it is more the on campus students then it is for online students. I don't use it because it is just too much of a hassle.

Campus Resources: We have no computer labs, they have taken away one on one tutoring and directed study, the system itself has problems.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Everything is easily and readily available with plenty of guidance and support.
It is the only fashion school to go to New York Fashion week

3 College Freshman

Student Body: Friendly and Artistic – people from all over studying a wide array of arts.

Career Services: Very Involved – On their website alumni list how they were place in great and enjoyable jobs. Their training from the Academy of art took them places. The staff is very caring, supportive, thoughtful, and responsive.

Overall Experience: Fulfilling the Dream – This school has worked with me even while I was sick to change my failing grades to "W." Even though I'm behind I know this is the right choice for me and the staff have been wonderful at continuing to help me pursue my dream even though I've been between a rock and a hard place.

Academic Experience: Bigger Fish in a Bigger Pond – It's a very competitive atmosphere especially for those entering Illustration. Your friends and fellow students are literally your competition competing against you should you enter a professional work environment. The classes are designed to help push you and to help transform your "hobby" into a career.

Campus Resources: Standard Facilities – The Academy of Art University actually has several campus locations which are basically buildings spread throughout downtown San Francisco. Each location varies depending on your field of study. My major is illustration so locations I frequent consist of drawing studios which are pretty standard and have all the basic equipment you would expect to find in an art school. There is a student café, located at the main campus building I believe, but it would be nice to see more of them in the individual locations.

Campus Resources: I Don't Use the Schools Computer Network – I take most of my classes online using my own computer at home. The few classes that I have taken on campus have been illustration/drawing classes so the use of a computer was not necessary. As such, I'm not certain how the computer system on campus rates.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Well Worth It! Education costs money and I have felt that every dollar that has been spent has so far been well worth it.

Career Services: Not Graduated Yet. Since I am only half way through my master's I am not completely aware of the post-grad services. I do know that with my preparing to present my Thesis Proposal there has been an amazing amount of support and effort into helping us succeed, even though most do not pass the first time they present their proposal, typically revisions are needed. But the photography department is going to great lengths to help prepare and get their graduate student's ready to present their thesis proposal.

Student Body: Online Classes – With an online community you get to know each other and each others work but there is going to be some disassociation to your classmates.

Academic Experience: Graduate Photography Program Rocks! You will be guaranteed to learn and to be challenged in the photography graduate program at AAU.

Academic Experience: You Get What You Put in – If you do not put any effort into the classes then you will not get anything out of them. The more effort you put into your classes the more you will get out of them.

Campus Resources: Online Courses – Online class courses is great and very thorough with what to expect from students. Though sometimes I would love to study on campus someday but cannot afford my living cost on campus.

Campus Resources: Network is good and attentative, not much problems at all. The school network updates when the sites will be down for maintenance.

Campus Resources: Online Resources – Well handle and easy to understand and expected from students and great communication with fellow peers and instructors. There's also online help desk that that is very handy and helpful.

Online Courses: Professors Are Excellent, Some Videos Not So Much. The title says it all. The instructors are only able to do so much without the admin providing them the tools to teach with. Some of the videos for construction classes were so messed up the instructor didnt even grade us for those parts because the information was totally unclear. Overall though I feel that the instructors, module content and course work are excellent.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Professors Worth the Tuition, Admin Not – Again, the professors are earning their salary, but the tuition is way too high to justify paying all of the admin staff. They are unhelpful and often ignorant of their own policies and procedures. Doing anything is like pulling teeth. I feel like I am being ripped off each and every time I have to deal with admin and remember I am paying their salaries.

Career Services: Teachers Great, Admin a Nightmare – I am a BFA student and find the professors, for the most part, to be amazing. However, if you want anything done be prepared to be on the phone to several different offices because they will push you off on someone else. My adviser is basically useless. My elderly grandparent accidentally threw out a commendation letter and they say they will not replace it for grad school applications because they have thrown out all their drafts when they moved. Really unwilling to help. The education is great if you can get through the bureaucracy.
