4 College Senior

Student Body: Students seem pretty talented and interested in learning and growing.

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: It convenient to my life but there's a lot of work each week that makes working more than a part time job difficult.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: It is considerably more expensive than a state college or university. I will have student loans for many years after I graduate. However, the education is top notch and I will have a degree in an area I am passionate about.

3 College Sophomore

Student Body: Most of my fellow students are attending this school because they are passionate about some sort of art; music, game design, visual media, interior design and more. I do socialize outside of class but most students are not that into socializing or partying. They are there to learn.

3 College Junior

Student Body: My school is most comprised of international student and they are predominantly asians..Twenty-five percent white and five percent black. socialization is lacking I have a problem communication with some of the students.

Academic Flexibility: One of the best things about the Academy of Art are the class schedules, they're flexible and organized according to your personal needs. Each student is given a student adviser who helps you decide and plan your schedule throughout your time at the school. This has been a huge plus for me because it helps me organize myself and my weekly work schedule.
The workload changes with every class, but the school has a great workshops program that allows students to speak to teachers, in a one on one setting, and get the help they need to complete assignments. The workshops at the Academy are my favorite! I go several times a week and get the extra attention and help that I need from my teachers. It is also a great way to connect with your teachers and get the most out of what they know as working professionals.

Academic Experience: I wish the professors were more involved with the students here, but understand it must be hard to have a personal relationship with us.

Academic Experience: I'm a web design and new media and my classes are exactly what I expected so far. I haven't had to take any crazy electives that have nothing to do with web design.

Campus Resources: The computer network for AAU is run by ORACLE software. The site is secure and allows me to find all the resources in one place on the homepage.

Online Courses: I love the online interaction I have with the instructor and fellow classmates. The online class structure allows for each of us to contribute our responses to course outline and assignment material within a reasonable time frame. If I get stuck on an area, the instructor is willing to take time to nudge me along the correct path to ensure that I fully understand the curriculum.

Tuition & Financial Aid: My financial aid rep helped me every step of the way from filling out the initial application to getting the refund check to me. It was an easy process with her help.

Academic Experience: I'm an Animation and Visual Effects major in my first year. The classes they started me off with are very interesting and informative, nothing mundane that won't relate to my major. The workload for me, since I'm taking online classes, is approximately 10-12 hours per course per week. It's a lot. But it's going well.

Academic Experience: The application and registration process was amazingly easy. My admissions rep helped me with the entire process and communicated with me via email every step of the way. Same with my Financial Aid rep. She made the whole process easy and worry-free.

The instructors are very accessible and involved with student discussions. They offer valuable feedback on assignments and the information I've learned in just the first few weeks of the semester makes me excited to see what comes next.

Overall, it's been an exceptional experience so far!

Online Courses: I was afraid that the classes online would be a lot more difficult to take than the classes in person, but I found them to be easier in a way. The teachers were very accessible, and easy to ask questions if you were confused or falling behind. Also, the online site is layer out very well, so you can easily understand all of the work, and you know exactly what you need to do next, it also has a special feature so that you always know your place in the class, and if you are falling behind.
However, I recommend if possible taking the classes in person, because I quickly realized the next semester that the online classes skip over some important material a lot of the time, and I felt a little behind in my classes due to that.

Academic Experience: My major is Music Production. I take two classes and the workload is doable and engaging. I always try and learn as much as I can each week and ask my instructors questions, and even if I don't ask questions my instructors help and correct my work to make it my best work possible for my skill level.

Academic Experience: An A- is basically the same as it is for every school. You've done most everything correctly with minor mistakes.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition at this school is outrages! It really makes me feel a bit torn becuase I completely love the classes, I love the coursework, I've seen some real improvement in my skill as an artist, but... I have fallen in such a financial hole I pray hard that it's all worth it. The financial aid is barley enough to cover part time classes and this year I've had to pay $842 out of pocket for EACH semester. Becuase the workload can get intense I only have time for a part time job so I really don't have that kind of money :( It's made me start thinking about attending a different school, even, but I haven't found one with the major that I am interested in (illustration).

Online Courses: I really like online courses. As someone who needs to keep there availability open so I can keep a part time job, and someone with a high level of anxiety around big crowds, being able to take courses completely online is extremely helpful. Sometimes the workload can get pretty big and it's bothersome that it can take so long just to turn an assignment in, but it's worth it. I feel comfortable in my classroom and around my professors and I am definitely getting better at my trade.
