Academic Experience: I have had an extremely positive experience other than a bit of a snafu this summer. No one informed me that by dropping down to one class for summer, I would not receive financial aid. I had to find $1,000 within two weeks... not easy!

Campus Resources: I am an online student, so I will speak of the resources there. Mostly the online set up is working perfectly at all times. If there is a problem it is usually fixed within the day.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I am majoring in Music Production. The labs and hands-on guidance that I receive is crucial to what I will need in the real world.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I enjoy the classes offered. The class registration process is done primarily online and/or through your assigned counselor.

Campus Resources: Because the school does not have one central campus, but is spread out throughout the city, there are various student centers and campus activities.

Campus Resources: This school offers majors that most state colleges/universities don't.Music production is my major, which is not offered at most other colleges.

Student Body: Academy of Art University consists of all cultures and backgrounds. It's very thrilling to meet people from all over the world. People aren't concentrated on where you came from, but based mostly on how skilled you are in your major. Although many hope to make as many friends right away, it's not often the case. It really depends on you to make conversation. Doing your best education-wise is concentrated more than your social life here. Don't expect parties or hangouts every week because the workload is strenuous and VERY VERY TIME CONSUMING.

Campus Resources: The resources offered at AAU is expansive and very helpful. They offer a Mac and PC lab for students that need to work on homework or print. However depending on if you are taking a computer class, you can only go in at certain times usually before 10:30am and a maximum of 15 sheets of black-and-white can be printed. Color sheets are purchased or depending on certain locations, FedEx is often in walking distance. Scanners are also offered when needed. The library is filled with many books dealing with art and for personal reference. You can always use the computers and scanners there as well. Wi-fi is located in all buildings for students and staff to use.

Academic Experience: It seems that most students I talk to have similar responses how the first semester is great, then after that, motivation goes downhill. The teachers are professionals themselves so they know what they are talking about, but they don't really get to understand your difficulties and strengths. It is quite similar to high school because teachers do have favorites and the good and bad are VERY OBVIOUS. It would be less stressful if the professors got to know us on a more personal level, then just a person assigning work and expecting the results to be amazing. Making friends is not as easy as it would probably be if it were at a UC or CSU. Everyone is competition and interaction is very minimal. Maybe due to the fact that artist are more introverted than others. Besides that, there are programs offered by the school to answer questions, help on homework, and workshops.

Academic Flexibility: I decided to attend this school for it offers majors set apart other than listed as 'art.' It helps being in a school with other students as passionate as you for they give great critiques and encouragement. It also pushes you to do better than others which prepares you for the work world. There are a variety of courses offered at the Academy relating to you what you want to do with your degree. It's easy to register for classes for students can enroll through email, phone, or even online. The only problem is that sometimes low enrollment or full classes can ruin your preplanned schedule. Very flexible in choosing classes around your personal time, but a hassle when something comes up. When transferring, it's actually more than frustration than an ease. For it takes weeks for them to process and get back to you. Sadly, the only time the employees really care is when dealing with your money.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The education I am getting is not completely what I was expecting to receive due to the fact that the ideal in the school does not represent what I want. I can't get financial aid because I am a international student but they offer payment plans what helps a lot in relation with the tuition.
I wish the school was more focus on the way they develop the student in middle of a class

Tuition & Financial Aid: Receiving financial aid is easy at AAU. Although sometimes they've lost my papers, they do process them very quickly. It's important to ask the questions because no one is going to tell you where you are with your aid. I HIGHLY suggest making scholarship searching and contest entering a part-time job. This school is expensive! I think it's worth it, but try to do anything to keep the cost down. They don't offer any scholarships either other than a portfolio scholarship I think.

Campus Resources: I think AAU has done well with the campus resources. The labs and library are helpful and almost never full. There is always some kind of campus activity going on. The classrooms have what they need. I've been in a few different environments: a fine art room, a drafting room, and a digital room. They all had what we needed. Although, I did hear that the school was cutting the recreational classes and our trips to fund the sports teams...

Campus Resources: There are many activities to get involved in. Every week they have a guest speaker to come and talk about different things that are important to our careers. Maybe internships one week, portfolios another, and so on. AAU puts on a fashion show, a spring show, and has some nice study abroad programs. They also offer a lot of help for international students and those that get behind in their classes.

Campus Resources: There are 2 computer labs. A Mac lab and a PC lab. They're actually really great! They offer tablets to check out too. Actually, I believe they even have a Cintiq room in the Illustration building.

Academic Flexibility: For the most part, any frustrations have been with the administration. It's impossible to transfer credits for one. Also, the school has a tendency to lose paperwork. I had to give verification for my financial aid three times for the same aid year. I've been handed off to a different advisor every semester.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: It is difficult to be in such a visual program online. I think that they still try to make you feel like you are in the classroom, but it is hard at times.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: The online program is pretty good. It has a few quarks, but overall I am happy with everything.

5 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: It did not seem very difficult to get aid through the school.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: So far I love it. I've learned how to improve my talent and further my career.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: So far I love everything about this school. I've learned more in two semesters than I have most of my life and career.

5 College Junior

Online Courses: The online courses are great. They are challenging, fast-paced, and require you to work hard- but the end result is learning a lot, a great portfolio, and new skills learned every week.

Campus Resources: My school has wonderful professors that really care about giving the students a great education. The courses are challenging that leave you learning more than you could imagine. You also walk away with a wonderful portfolio.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Well the school doesn't seem to offer much financial aid on their own but that's okay. The credit price is quite high, but I'm also okay with paying it if I'm getting a good education. Being in Kansas, there really isn't a good game design teaching school nearby, and I want to be in one of the best. I know Academy of Art University hit in the top 15 of the Princeton Review of Game Design major schools so that's why I chose it.
Though it's recommended to seek outside scholarships and grants or work hard at a job, so you need a lot of effort to get the funds needed to pay off remaining bills.

Academic Experience: All my teachers so far have been very involved and interactive with all my classes. And they are very balanced. Say one teacher is very casual with talking to his students, well he's serious on his grading, but very encouraging at the same time. Another would be very knowledgeable, and help us as much as we can, but she kept our assignments private, and even gave us a "get out of jail" card (meaning we can either skip an assignment or get rid of a low graded assignment), just because we don't get a Spring Break.
Registration is easy too. I usually talk with my adviser to hear her opinion of what classes I take, I look over them, then I register for them online. And then email her my decisions just so we keep in touch.
