Academic Flexibility: I attend school online, so that works for me.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The school is unique because it is an art school so everyone has very different talents that are mind-blowing. The school is really good because the classes feel like real work and your getting hands on experience of what the life in this field may be like.

Facilities: The school is in the middle of San Francisco City and runs throughout the whole city with free transportation around the city. The living situations are great they have modern buildings.

Student Body: The student body at academy of art university is very diverse. There are people from all over the world who are extremely friendly and out-going. Everyone at this school is very goal-oriented and driven but at the same time enjoy living their life as a young adult. The school, however, can use some more clubs or keep students updated on club meetings and events.

Tuition & Financial Aid: My financial aid experiences have been a mixed bag. I think the education I receive is definitely worth the cost, but the financial aid office only minimally helps with gathering the money needed to meet their tuition, and more than ever, I feel somewhat on my own with that. I've worked with both entirely unhelpful and helpful advisers. The money financial aid does provide has been a smooth process to pay for classes every semester, though.

Facilities: One great thing at AAU is the workshops. Every week, a variety of these are held, such as Life Drawing workshops, Perspective workshops, etc. These are three hour classes, given at a variety of times, that you can just drop in on and work either unassisted or ask a teacher for advice. This is great as an art student because it gives you valuable extra time to practice or to catch up on homework, and for no extra cost despite being like an extra class in itself, it's really an amazing service the school provides.

Student Body: I also wrote about this earlier, the student body has been great. After coming from schools I was never able to feel very comfortable with my peers, being a student at AAU was a world of difference. I feel almost all of my fellow students are very motivated and know what they want career-wise, and it's helpful being around such a group, since it motivates you too. I've made friends nearly every class I've been in, which is so different from my experiences at schools like Sac State. There is a large amount of diversity, of all kinds, and in general I feel it's a very welcoming environment.

Academic Flexibility: As I stated earlier, class flexibility is great, there are always time slots available. I had already accumulated 70 something credits before AAU and I believe only 30 transferred, but I can also understand why, since I wasn't previously pursuing art. The transfer of the ones that did go through was pretty seamless as I recall.

College Sophomore

Career Services: I haven't had reason to yet look into this aspect of the school.

Online Courses: I've so far greatly enjoyed my two online classes, which were both Art History courses. As someone who tends to work quickly with subjects that involve reading and testing, online, where I can set my own pace, was ideal for me. The way the course reading was designed was very understandable and streamlined, and the quizzes/essays we had to do for the reading were always in easily doable portions. History has never been a good subject of mine, but the teachers I've had at this school and the way the course has designed allowed me to get A's both times.

Overall Experience: What I enjoy a lot about this school, besides the things I stated earlier, is the sense of unity with my fellow classmates. Although we're pursuing different majors, a lot of our classes overlap in the beginning, and it's been a great opportunity for me to get to know people I might someday be working with in the future. And it has allowed me to learn about the fields that will commonly go alongside my own (for example, illustration with animation, or video game design, are ones that tend to connect). The overall environment of the school, regarding both the students, teachers and faculty, has been largely encouraging and helpful. I am very satisfied with AAU.

College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Because I'm just finishing my first year, I haven't got to do many Illustration specific classes, as I was finishing up my Foundation courses. It's this year now when I will start being able to focus on my major.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: After having dealt with the horrible class registration problems provided at local community colleges as well as Sacramento State, AAU's process has been a dream. Classes I need are always available at multiple times, no matter when I register. So far, my professors have all been incredibly helpful and for the most part, great to work with. The workload is quite considerable, and with a tough grading system, but I feel the teachers help break it down into manageable chunks. And besides that, there are good resources at the school to help you with it if that's not enough. I've had no problems at all in these areas at AAU.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I only use the library out of these options, but the amount of resources it provides has been great for my needs

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: I've needed to use the school's printer and copier all year, and I've always been able to be in and out in under 5 minutes, with lots of computers available and ease of use with the printer/copier system.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: The first semester was difficult due to being my first time taking online classes but the next semester was a lot easier to manage

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: Classes are online. Students stick to the topics and there are open areas that students interact for off topic discussions
